Parrots of Limpopo
There are 5 parrot species in Southern Africa. Four of these parrot species can be seen in the North Eastern Limpopo. Ruppell’s Parrot is found in Namibia. Just recently the Cape Parrot and Grey-headed parrot were split using DNA analysis. The Grey-headed is now called the Brown-necked Parrot. The Cape Parrot is found in afromontane forest while the Brown-necked Parrot is found in lowland savanna. The map showing the distribution of the Brown-necked Parrot in Magoebaskloof probably needs revision.
